Happy Father's Day!

A new book called Prince And The Parade & Sign O’ The Times Era Studio Sessions 1985 And 1986 by Duane Tudahl (with a foreword by Elton John) just arrived at my door. As a major Prince fan, I’ve scoured many books and videos that have chronicled, annotated or demystified his recording process on a granular level. Getting to read 680 pages of comprehensive notes on this era of Prince’s artistry (which encompasses two of my favorite albums) is going to be wonderful.

Huge thanks to the kids who turned this pavilion into an art gallery with some chalk and a great deal of vivid imagination. You have reminded me that each of us is capable of creating ANYTHING we want to.

First Photo • iPhone 12 Pro Max
Okay, friends… A few personal announcements. Today feels rather significant. It was my first trip to a mall since February 2020. I not only scored a new iPhone, I bought a new iPad. My 2nd generation 2012 iPad didn’t owe me a dime. Mentioning these new devices is relevant as I use an iPad for photo reference when drawing and painting. The old one died last week and my main reason for buying a new one is the fact that I’m about to start work on a new illustrated children’s book which will require A LOT of visual research and the use of photo reference for illustrations. This is a new beginning overall and the timing of these events couldn’t be more perfectly aligned. I’m literally turning a new page or shall I say CREATING new pages to be turned by others in the future. I’m also taking this opportunity to share the underlying topic of my new book: Time Travel. Past, present and future exist within each of us in every moment. We only need to arrange and engage with the details however we wish. Speaking of the present, it’s lovely to see Pride Month being acknowledged and celebrated in the form of flags and signage on homes, churches and stores. I’m not cynical about or suspicious of it. If someone wishes me Happy Pride I accept and return the sentiment. So with that, I continue to wish everyone Happy Pride today and always. Big love to all as I go deep into my imagination, my heart and my artistic identity to embark on what I can only imagine will be an exciting, intensive, rigorous and fascinating creative journey. It’s time for me to create something new and I’m ready.

Some of you might remember earlier posts about a 2018 graduate from Randolph HS named Sebastian who now (at age 21) is a combat veteran and someone that many of my colleagues and I hold in high esteem. Earlier this evening I had the good fortune to catch up with him over dinner where we spoke at length about his tour of duty in The Middle East and his most recent deployment to Washington DC which occurred three days after the incidents of January 6th. This young man was one of the men and women whom you might have seen on TV sleeping on the floor of The US Capitol. I am pleased to report that he is home safe and sound, making future plans and carrying a world of experience with him as he moves forward. Cheers, Sebastian. Thank you for your service.
