The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed: 50th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set (2019)

One of my favorite birthday presents this year

was the deluxe 50th anniversary box set of 

The Rolling Stones' classic Let It Bleed album.

The box set includes a folio which shows three

phases of concept sketches and the fully realized 

album cover photo by Robert Brownjohn in a series 

of hand-numbered prints. Two versions of the vinyl 

album appear here as well: stereo and mono mixes.

Two CDs also contain these mixes. A 7" single

of the more rock-oriented version of "Honky Tonk

Women" in a reprint sleeve is included for your 

45 RPM listening pleasure. The deluxe package is

rounded out by a poster and a beautifully designed

hardcover book which chronicles the recording

of the songs, many of which would embody all of

the passion, power, tension and tumult of the late 60s.

1969: Rowan & Martin's LAUGH IN PARTY!

A recent eBay score: Rowan & Martin's Laugh In Party.

This item is essentially a cardboard standup graphic that illustrates one of the party sequences 

 made famous by the comedy/variety show, which ran from 1968 - 1973. Cardboard cut-outs of 

the hosts and some of the featured players can have different catch phrases, quotes and bits of 

dialogue attached to the speech boxes above their heads.  The set also comes with paper doll clothing for each figure. This is how people mocked up or re-experienced episodes of their favorite shows before repeat or personalized viewings of a TV program on one's own time would ever be possible.
