June Doing June Things

Records Now And Forever...

Until The End Of Time

And Then Some More

RIP TINA TURNER (Once again)

This motel... Still abandoned. Still totally scummo.

My friend Nate recently moved his fantastic collectibles shop to South Mall in Allentown, PA. For years I could never remember the name of his shop so I just called it (and the building it was housed in) Nate-O-Rama. Frankly, I still call his new shop by that same name and now Nate-O-Rama has a black light rave room. From this day going forward I will NEVER shop in ANY establishment that DOES NOT have a black light rave room. I will not be taking questions at this time. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

…And We’re BACK! Blue Ridge Flea Market Forever.

I bought hundreds... and I mean HUNDREDS of vintage photos
from two different collections recently. Stay tuned for these.

Hi Chancey!

WHAT A DUMP!

I packed up the classroom for another summer...

My First Concert
Depeche Mode with opening act OMD.
Here’s my original ticket stub and program
with that iconic set of Anton Corbin photos.

During the last weeks of school my blood type was Dunkin'.

Many thanks to my friend Nate for yet another sweet deal. Superman II is my favorite of the Superman movies from my childhood and to have a full set of the cards and stickers for my collection is a joyous thing. Past & Future Generations is a fantastic shop which is housed within the equally awesome Attic Mice 2 shop. You an find them both at South Mall in Allentown, PA. Do yourself a favor and look up both of these great places online or (better yet) visit them in person!

Prince would have turned 65 this month.

Smoke and ash from the Candian wildfires
turned our skies orange and the air very toxic.

Huge props to Kelly McD for this Mad Max
Beyond Thunderdome edit of my photo. He never misses.

Eventually, the smoke cleared but it took a while.

Recently, I had the distinct pleasure of catching up with Sebastian, a 2018 alum that I hadn’t seen in a while. Sebastian will be out of the military as of November, having served tours of duty in Jordan and Washington DC during the J6 debacle (Operation Steel Guardian). He is currently in a dual BS / MS degree program for business information systems and artificial intelligence at NJIT. He is also assistant information systems manager for the NJIT registrar’s office. I can’t tell you how proud I am of this young man and what a honor it is to know him. Cheers, sir. Thank you for your service.

No Ice Skating In June. Wait For July.

…And That’s A Wrap On Year 23

Strange book to find in a car wash waiting area, but there it was.

Stay classy, Pennsylvania.

Many thanks to Dave W. for giving me this giant 1950s game board. That was extremely generous of you, kind sir! I definitely plan to build an assemblage piece on it. Cheers!

Finally got my car window fixed.

EN GARDE! More Flea Market Fun.

Dad doing Dad things.

Chancey doing Chancey things.

Once again... WHAT A DUMP!

Maybe it's genetic... Happy Father's Day!

Muzak - Reveille LP (1969)
This is one of several new additions to my record collection. I recently purchased five Muzak LPs from the late 1960s and early 1970s as I’ve always found the dynamics of this environmental music and its psychological and physiological effects alternately soothing and engaging. According to the liner notes, “Muzak selects, arranges and records its own music – specifically and exclusively for functional use. The distracting or irritating musical devices of ordinary entertainment music are avoided”. As for the cover art, the notes also state: “After probing and interviewing music psychologists, musicologists and programmers, artist Ray Harrow succeeded in pinpointing two unique qualities that make Muzak more than music – contemporary arrangements of internationally popular selections and the functional ascending program.” Harrow created a Jackson Pollock style oil painting with abstract forms which avoid recognizable shapes. As for the psychological effect of Muzak’s sounds on employees in workplaces such as stores or offices, the liner notes go on to say “Muzak programs selections into a rising or ascending order – gradually increasing musical stimulation to offset sagging performance. This composition is entitled “Reveille” because it visualizes the wake up sound of the New Muzak – bright, stimulating and contemporary with emphasis on variety to combat today’s ever increasing boredom, lack of attention and fatigue.” I’ll see how these albums affect my focus and output as I work on new artwork at home. If nothing else, I’ll feel as though I’m being transported to a Woolworth’s or Grants Department Store in 1969 and that’s just fine by me. Here’s to easy listening.

I went to see The Cure at MSG last week.
Photos from that event are in the previous blog post.

Natzoh Matzoh And Not Too Hot For Soup

I’m not eating this… YOU ARE.
Many thanks to my friend Steve for bringing me one
of my favorite treats from the local farmers market which
I DEFINITELY DID NOT eat for lunch. NOPE. Not at all.
