Below are four 1960s postcards that I purchased on eBay
of The Chris Town Shopping Center in Phoenix, Airzona.
I wish we still had public gathering spaces that looked like this.

press photo that was altered for publication in a newspaper
to promote Ann's appearance on The Andy Williams Show.
My friend Steve scored this1969 8-track tape at an estate sale for me.
He's good like that. He's always got his radar running for cool items.

Both postcards are from the early 1960s and showcase
visually engaging geometric design flourishes.
Another recently acquired pop culture artifact, this one decidedly
more trashy... I do have quite a few 1970s and 1980s tabloids in
my magazine archives and this Enquirer form 1986 is chock full
of scandal. Before the parasocial internet era, this was pretty much
the main vehicle for gossip, hearsay and dirt dishing done dirt cheap.
The main difference is now the "news" travels a lot faster
and millions of people can comment publicly on anything from
behind the partition of a screen name and a masked identity.
The feeding frenzy erupts more quickly now and burns itself out,
only to be supplanted by another and another and another
in alarmingly rapid succession.
